800 skiers for a world first!
The first edition of SkiColor on Saturday 31 January in Les Gets lived up to all of its promises!
Mont-Chéry was blanketed in wonderful white snow ready to welcome the 800 skiers who took part in this world first. 50 cm of fresh snow and glorious sunshine awaited participants for their morning warm-up with free time to ski on the slopes and in the powder. After lunch, participants made their way to the top of the Pointe chairlift for the official start of the SkiColor run. The snow, a colored powder in its own right, felt a little left out and decided to join in the party with big snowflakes. This didn’t discourage the Pom Pom Girls who put on a great show and had participants carrying out warm-up exercises to the music
Four color zones
The SkiColor run got off to a start at 1.30 p.m. in waves of 30 skiers every 2 minutes. Participants skied through 4 zones along the run with volunteer “Color Bombers” throwing colored powder over them (one color at a time). Two fun tunnels with balloons and electro music added to the unique experience had by SkiColor skiers.
Animations and Live DJ to end up the afternoon
The SkiColor finish zone was located at the Mont-Chéry panoramic viewpoint where they were invited to take part in events in the SkiColor village. The Melting Paint organisation invited participants to color the sculpture created for the event. The snow-covered dance floor moved to the beat by DJ Luigi and 4 synchronised color throws were organised to bring color to the sky of Les Gets.
And as this great day came to an end, SkiColor Après continued in the resort’s bars. A second edition, packed with new features, is already planned for 2016!
